The place to stay is in Legian Bali, Below are some pictures of the area. Kuta is next to Legian and is the party spot with lots of bars and restuarants. Here is a map to get around.

Getting there is not cheap, but once you get there, the cost of living is low. A full body message for one hour is $5 and a fantastic meal with drinks is under $10.

The place to stay for cheap in Legian Bali is Su's Cottages. Overnight stay with breakfast is under $20. It is in front of the Jayakarta Hotel on the beach in Legian. Nice size rooms with 1 or 2 beds. They also have many rooms with air conditioning. If you wish to spend $50 a night the Jayakarta is excellent.

If you are into surfing, then Bali is the place to go. Uluwatu on the south end of the island is world famous for it break.

Getting around Bali in a taxi is so cheap, you do not need to worry about getting a car or motorbike. It is dangerous and not worth it.
